I'm still gonna try.

"Let's try for forever."
"I've been trying for forever. I don't know what you're talking about!"

Shirt ninjas

I have a monstrous hunger sneaking up on me right now but I'm not in the mood for eating. Today, I ate cereal and two bagels. Meh.

Finally donated my hair. It's so short now! The guy who cut it was really nice and he seemed pretty happy to help out for a good cause. He did a pretty good job. Did you know you're supposed to tip the people that cut your hair $10-$15 US dollars?! Anyway, I owe my boyfriend money because he spotted me but basically, it was the most I've ever paid for a haircut. Which is okay I guess because I've never had short hair before and I'd rather have it look decent than something not so decent (is there a useful synonym for half-@**ed?). I'd take a picture but the camera's in my purse and my purse is inconveniently in another room.

So, mud run is tomorrow. Pictures will be posted after I return from my 1-week church retreat to Big Bear, CA. I'm leaving pretty much right after the event. And then you shall see my hair. Or not, since we're going to be shirt ninjas :D

Oh yeah! And I deactivated my facebook. I suppose I'll come back for it if I ever need to contact someone. I still feel a bit hazy about my privacy on the site, though, even if privacy is a thing of the past. It doesn't help that I'm now on Google+. I don't really like it all that much.

AX 2011

AX for the most part was cool. I know if I was deeply involved in the manga world, I would find it much more interesting. But I'm not. Yet I can appreciate the enthusiasm around the convention center. Three things stand out to me: (1) hanging out with Tiffany who actually made it fun :), (2) our Bakuman cosplay group being recognized by others and even some people saying we were awesome, and (3) the loads of Japanese merchandise... which I know could probably be bought in HK. We watched two screenings; one for Blue Exorcist and one for Revolutionary Girl Utena. Looks like I'll be reading the manga of the former and watching the latter for pure entertainment.

On the darker side of the issue is the fact that some of the people who go to these things are ... weird. And that's to say nothing of the men who intend to exploit the incredibly revealing female cosplay costumes for their own eyecandy ogling and creeper-ing with photos. But you can't really get around it because fanatics will be fanatics. And boys will be boys.

Finally, staying in a hotel would have definitely been more interesting. Though to my dismay, I found myself wishing to God that I, or rather my boyfriend, had different friends. They stayed in a hotel like they do every year. and are in it for a good time with the "guys" I suppose but... it would actually be interesting to follow people who weren't jaded about AX. All my good friends who are into anime, however, probably find the whole ordeal to be secondary to other things that could have been planned. That, and they're not even in SoCal.

All this has got a lot weighing on my mind.
